Black Women’s History Week

In 2018, I came up with the idea to use social media to honor Black women at the intersection of Black History Month and Women’s History Month. I did some digging to see if anyone else had something like this going on and I found nothing. I’d seen some discussions from years past about celebrating Black women in this way, but nothing had come to any official fruition. I took it upon myself to use my platform to develop a creative and engaging way to honor Black women.

Since then, I’ve been able to partner with Feminist, an org that exists “to amplify the voices, messages, and platforms of a diverse network of change-makers, activists, creators, and artists.” I’m honored to work with them again this year, the 5th anniversary of Black Women’s History Week. I’m thrilled that so many heed the call each year and continue to amplify the amazing work of Black women around the world.
